Besides the beautiful photographs, we get to take at weddings, the love and joy and the lively wedding environment make us grateful for being wedding photographers. And Marlenne and Josue's Cherokee Cottage wedding was another super special event in which we were lucky to play a small role. Their Latin wedding was one of the most fun weddings (they even had a trolley ride between the ceremony and cocktail hour). We've photographed, and each moment was worth a photograph. Marlenne and Josue, if you are reading this, we want you to know that we were honored to photograph your wedding. You both are genuinely loved and cared for, and seeing all your loved ones come out to support you on your big day was a testament to that.
Marlenne And Josue's Cherokee Cottage Wedding
Staying true to their roots, Marlenne and Joshua's Latin wedding had a Spanish ceremony. The bride told us their story, telling me, "Josue and I have been together for nine years. We met while working retail at Guess, which was not love at first. However, our relationship started as a true friendship and developed over about a year into dating. Since we've been together, we've always maintained a strong bond - even through moments of being physically apart and in different countries for extended periods of time." I knew these two shared a deep bond that's rare, and Marlenne's words confirmed that.
She added, "Honestly, when we met, we were both kids, but we've been able to support one another and grow as individuals. We both share a passion for family, community outreach, and traveling. We live in Chicago and have lived in Los Angeles for three years. We are both the type of people who are ready to do anything and say yes to an adventure."
Cherokee Cottage was an ideal venue for Marlenne and Josue's wedding. Everything was laced with elegance from Marlenne's bridal dress and the décor to the wedding cake. Every detail was planned to perfection, and the whole venue looked even more gorgeous when the décor chosen by the couple transformed it. There were so many lovely moments throughout the day, and one of them was when Josue saw Marlenne walking down the aisle with her father. His smile said it all! And we are glad we caught the moment at the right time.
There were traditional father-daughter and mother-son dances during the reception, which was so lovely—seeing that bond between parents and their children is always a treat. Marlenne and Josue's wedding day would be incomplete without a dance party, and once the traditional dances were done, the bride and groom and all their guests set the dance floor on fire. Everyone was dancing and showing off some of the fanciest footwork I've ever seen.
Let Your Special Moments Shine With The Velvet Oak
Marlenne and Josue, thank you so much for having us as your wedding photographer. We had such a fantastic time at your wedding, and it was a pleasure to meet all your lovely family members. We wish you a very happy marriage and look forward to photographing your future milestones!
Marlenne, we also want to thank you again for the beautiful words you shared with us. Here's what the bride had to say, "What drew me to your work was how the photos appeared to be natural moments instead of highly posed images that are over-edited. I loved the use of color in a lot of the photos. There always seemed to be an appropriate balance or amount of pop in each photo. Since we will have a small, intimate group, I felt that you all could capture that mood better than most." We hope you got exactly what you were looking for, Marlenne.
