Do you know what we love about surprise proposals? All those heart-warming emotions that our couples feel. From the "Will you marry me?" to the "YES" - proposals are filled with so much positive energy and emotions, and as proposal photographers, we feel that excitement with our couples each time. We also know how much a proposal means to both partners; therefore, we strive not to miss a single moment. Proposals mark the initiation of an engagement, the beginning of a lifetime together, and it is the first big step to living happily ever after! We thoroughly enjoy watching our couples at that moment, and we had the most amazing time capturing David and Kristen's surprise proposal at Sea Island at The Cloister. It was the perfect setting and a beautiful day to plan an outdoor proposal.

David & Kristen's Sea Island Surprise Proposal 

We want to start by giving a big shout-out to David for planning the sweetest surprise for Kristen! She's undoubtedly one lucky girl. A hidden treasure tucked away on a private island, The Cloister is a wondrous place to have fun and celebrate the good things in life! We've photographed some clients at this location before, so we knew exactly what to do to make David and Kristen's proposal photos pop. The fresh air, open spaces, and breathtaking nature are a few reasons we love returning to this spot! And apart from their big smiles and undeniable chemistry, these are pretty much the things we incorporated into our lovely couple's proposal photos.

With his family arriving at The Cloister on August 19th, David had planned to propose to Kristen on the same day once everyone arrived at the venue. He arranged for an evening proposal and coordinated his plan with the wedding team (Katie and Missouri) at The Cloister. We immediately knew this guy had something fantastic chalked out for this special moment. What amazed us were the details that David paid attention to make his proposal to Kristen even more intimate and special!

With the help of the resort's wedding team, he set up the area with flowers and photos of him and Kristen. For his proposal, David chose to pop the big question at a chapel in the resort, surrounded by lush greenery and huge trees. The site looked as if nature provided a natural tent for the chapel, with long vines creating an archway that led to the chapel steps. It was an incredibly picturesque spot for a proposal. To make it even more romantic, the pathway that led to the chapel had red roses and pictures of David and Kristen set up on the ground (anyone getting any rom-com vibes?). 

As David and Kristen walked up to the chapel, he had another surprise! A massive heart was created with rose petals and surrounded by candles on the ground. Roses and candles are two essential elements of romance, and David did not leave any stone unturned to make sure his ladylove felt super special and loved that day. He also set up placards on the chapel steps that read, "Will you marry me?". And as Kristen, clearly surprised, was still coming to terms with what was happening at that moment, David got down on one knee and proposed! 

Lifting her up as she said, "Yes!" David and Kristen shared sweet kisses and posed for some stunning couples portraits. These two look amazing together! After the proposal, the smiles on their faces did not fade away for a single moment. They kissed, danced, laughed, and happily took a mini tour of the venue to get some more lovely portraits to remember this day.
